Projects of Tawi Conservancy Trust

Before the conservancy was established, the landscape was unprotected and vulnerable, with limited infrastructure and increasing pressure on wildlife and natural resources.

Since then, we've worked to maintain and improve the land, enhancing security and restoring critical habitats.

One major milestone was the completion of a 7km elephant fence in 2017, separating the conservancy from the nearby Namelock Village. Financed by Tawi Lodge and the Tawi Conservancy through user-generated conservation fees, this fence has significantly reduced human-wildlife conflict.

Our commitment goes beyond wildlife. We’ve developed essential infrastructure, including roads and community projects. Two primary schools have been built — Oribili School, sponsored by a London-based architect, and a second school fully funded by Tawi. Together, they serve over 180 students, with scholarships provided annually for up to four students to pursue education through university.

In addition to education, we support nearby villages with food relief programs for both people and livestock during times of need. These ongoing projects reflect our belief that true conservation is only possible when communities thrive alongside nature.
